Buena Vista Park Description
Buena Vista Park is home to one of the rare remnant oak woodlands left in San Francisco. This small Significant Natural Resource Area is managed by the Natural Areas Program and lovingly cared for by the members of the Buena Vista Park Restoration Project.
Just as in the Oak Woodlands in Golden Gate Park, the chief management challenges in this project include coping with the dominant understory weeds — English ivy, cape ivy, blackberry, and ehrharta grass.
Buena Vista Park currently has 20 volunteers who have subscribed to our regular email newsletters and work at this site. They have posted 2 photos and 2 posts to their blog.

The remnant oak woodlands in Buena Vista Park can be seen in context with the oak woodlands in Golden Gate park—which are just visible at the left edge of this photo:

The SE hillside is scheduled to receive a major facelift with trail and access improvements. Please email Richard if you want to receive updates about that exciting project.
I believe that this work isn’t exactly in the Significant Natural Resource Area per se, but it is nearby and therefore germane to the habitat restoration efforts.
