Where: Conservatory of Flowers
What:
Hello Volunteers, It’s time for our regular “second Saturday” habitat restoration workparty. The Coast Live Oaks are showing healthy new growth this season – the leaves are still a translucent bright green. Many of the native plants are flowering. The slope just west of the Arguello gate features purple phacilia, yellow sticky monkey flower andbush lupine and red paintbrush. During last month’s workparty, our 15 volunteers cleared Ivy from the north slope of Casino Hill adjacent to Bunny Mdw. A plan is being developed, a collaboration among RPD GG Park gardening staff, Natural Areas staff and volunteers, that will accelerate the restoration of landscape value and natural habitat on the south side of Casino Hill facing JFK Blvd. Volunteers and Natural Areas staff have been working to clear this site of Ivy and other invasives to prepare for this collaborative effort. The work scope has yet to be determined for Saturday’s workparty – but as usual we will contribute to the restoration of this unique to SF Oak Woodland. Please join us. Tools and gloves will be provided – please wear long pants and sleeves and sturdy footwear. Refreshments will be provided.
Call Suzanna Buehl (415-831-6328) and Rob Bakewell @ 415-710 -9617 ( incl Sat AM ) for any other questions.
Regards, Rob Bakewell Steward with Oak Woodland – GG Park SFRPD Natural Areas Program
