PoaPalooza ‘08 – Beginning Bunchgrass Identification Workshop
Leaders: Tom Annese and Stan Kaufman
One the tricks of identifying native bunchgrasses is first learning where to look for them. In our third annual beginning bunchgrass workshop, we’ll begin by showing you how to distinguish a remnant native grassland from a European annual grassland.
We’ll show you all of Mt. Davidson’s 13 native grasses, but focus on the most common and/or easily identifiable grasses.
We’ll discuss basic grass morphology, but instead of obsessing about formal keys, we’ll focus on the growth habits and inflorescences of each bunchgrass. Despite our focus on the big picture, do bring along your hand lens if you have one.
As space is limited, please RSVP. Signup and Login to our web site to do so.
Meet at the bus turnaround on Myra and Dalewood. Please bring water, sturdy shoes, and layered clothing.
For more information, email Tom Annese at or call 415-297-1413 (email much preferred).
Size Limit: 50 (42 places left)
